I love the comp as a whole and the simplification of the large shapes the only thing I might adjust is the curvature on the bench. It seems just a tad turned too much towards the left- in other words twisting as a whole towards the left and doesn't quite feel grounded perpectivewise. Hope that helps and doesn't hinder. Looking forward to more!Giselle Vidal McMenaminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06485784213084567008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4441586645353792223.post-42204043773260471042011-07-21T09:19:00.891+01:002011-07-21T09:19:00.891+01:00Thankyou so much Linda.

I struggle with it a lot often wiping 3+ times with a painting and simplifying with each new attempt. I agree with Maria, Solvek is a great painter to study for getting at those shapes. Also, Peggi Kroll Roberts might help. But stick with your style which I really love.CHRIS MURRAYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00902291140734132670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4441586645353792223.post-58732297679706264082011-07-19T03:01:00.369+01:002011-07-19T03:01:00.369+01:00I like the way the values in green and browns are ...I like the way the values in green and browns are used,, the shapes coordinate with each other, I am struggling to keep the details to minimum all the time :-)padmajahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18297562916603110230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4441586645353792223.post-82785343716262341712011-07-18T00:13:55.403+01:002011-07-18T00:13:55.403+01:00I think you have done a great job with shapes and ...I think you have done a great job with shapes and values here. Looks like Maria has some good advice. Michael's work is good, haven't seen Charles work yet. In this piece, I'm drawn to the end of the bench/ledge where your edge is lost ~ yet I know it's there. The brush work in that area, especially in the shadows under the bench is excellent.Elizabeth Frazierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13769025879301489187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4441586645353792223.post-47588524903827432572011-07-15T14:50:08.625+01:002011-07-15T14:50:08.625+01:00Azra,

I struggle with the same thing. Have you ever seen Michael Chamberlain's work? He makes it look so easy. Check out his blog http://chamberlainpaintings.blogspot.com/. Also, someone recently told me about Charles Sovek, http://www.sovek.com/view/paintinganything/index.htm, there are great lessons on painting on his website.Maria Baluishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03508393211472362469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4441586645353792223.post-59896766355053495302011-07-15T09:42:49.775+01:002011-07-15T09:42:49.775+01:00Hi Azra, thanks for the concern you showed.Things w...Hi Azra, thanks for the concern you showed.Things were not very favorable but I am glad to be back again.:)<br />You seemed to be busy as I see a lot of wonderful paintings on your blog.Well, even I need to change gears now.:)yashahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16314555047328149752noreply@blogger.com
