Nevertheless

In spite of this onion and chillies being past their best you can make something delicious.Separate the green shoots from the old part of the onion, wash and chop both the shoots and chillies.Add a little salt and a couple of eggs and beat lightly.Add a little olive oil to a frying pan and pour the egg mixture and cook like an omelette.Slice a ciabatta roll in half and toast and then fill with the indian style omelette.....enjoy.   :  )

Pink Geraniums

"I am still determined to be happy,in whatever situation I may be; for I have learned from experience that the greater part of happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstance."
Quote by Martha Washington.

I bought some red and pink geraniums to plant in my front garden but before I do, I decided to paint this one.A fellow artist Karen D'Angeac Mihm painted a close up of this flower a few weeks ago and I loved it .

Tina's Cake

I did'nt have time to paint so I thought i would post a photo of a cake I made for a friend a while ago.I had intended to take up cake making  but I found it too hard to carry on together with the catering that we already do. I spent so much money on all the tins and equipment but maybe one day.....

Bee Heaven

I have a pot in my front garden that is blooming with French Lavender,Chives and Sage. All three are flowering at the moment and are a magnet for bees. Its so lovely to step out or come home and see them busy around the pot.

Where's Lunch?

My entry for this weeks Dailypaintworks challenge is a ceramic trinket holder.Did I have a hard time with this!!! The idea is to use only black and white if painting with acrylics and have a dominant value,a secondary value and just a touch of the third. My dominant value is dark, mid value is secondary (I think?!)and a small amount of light.Maybe I need to practice this a few times.Certainly to create a three dimensional image this is crucial so its well worth doing.

Lily in Glass Jar

Before my lillies fade I wanted to paint them one more time. Its much harder painting close up and since I have'nt painted glass for a while it felt like I had forgotten how to.I suppose some days things are harder to achieve than others.

Lillies in a Vase

As you might know from my previous posts my husband and I are  street traders and along the street there is also a florists stall and from time to time he gives me bunches of gorgeous flowers. These lillies are just a feast to look at and I felt a bit daunted whether I would be able to do them justice but I had to try.

Kitty's Toys

Dailypaintworks gave two choices this week...there was the cute kitten and some toys.I did'nt have much time and left it very last minute so I thought this would be perfect. The shapes are simple and fun to do.

How I draw my elipses

This is not a perfect method but it does save me an awful lot of time. The length of the horizontal line is always longer ,and the length in relation to the vertical line determines how narrow you want your elipse.I still sometimes manage to mess it up when I'm painting but at least the basic shape is there to start with. : ))

Sprouting Turnips

I can't tell you how good it feels to be posting again. The DailyPaintworks challenge to paint veggies has been running a week and I've just managed to enter mine. These turnips have been sitting waiting for me for nearly a week.
Thankyou everyone for all your prayers and wonderful words of encouragement. My husband was taken ill suddenly but thanks to God and  all the prayers he's making a good recovery. : )

Backgarden Sunset 2

I painted this a few days ago,I'm not completely happy with it ,but I wanted to post because I feel it would be achieving some sort of normality.I've had a crisis at home ...its been touch and go but I think things will be alright with Gods help. All I can say is please don't wait to tell your nearest and dearest that you love them and appreciate them.....do it everyday.God Bless you all.

Grapes on Pink

"One of life's gifts is that each of us,no matter how tired or downtrodden, finds reasons for thankfulness:for the crops carried in the fields and the grapes from the vineyard."

Figs

This the last of the figs and very tasty they were too. : ))
Going back to my earlier post about Jack Vettriano...he was given a set of paints when he was twenty one and spent the next eighteen years copying paintings of famous artists. So I have decided to follow his example and paint one or two famous paintings every week.I will post those as well as my usual daily paintings and see how this practice will influence my work.
Figs,6x6 acrylic on acrylic paper
For this week its Tamara in Green Bugatti (1925). acrylic on watercolour paper 12"x8"
Tamara de Lempicka was a Polish art deco painter.
