Three Figs on a Dish

Yesterday I tried pastels and acrylics on the fireworks painting.I found that I did'nt like using them ,especially the feeling of powder on my fingers.I also found I did'nt have as much control with this medium as I do with acrylics.
Today I did a quick study in watercolour and its a whole different ball game!! I've had this set of watercolours for about fifteen years ,I did use it but did'nt really take to it as I have acrylics.I certainly will persevere with watercolours as there are some inspiring watercolour artists out there ,such as Kathy Los-Rathburn and Nora Mcphail whose style I absolutely love.I also love the  poetic florals by Sidmar.

  2. Wow - this is a departure for you, but appropriate for the new year. I LOVE it Azra! Those strokes on the fig in the background perfectly suggest its shape, and the colors and motif on the plate - beautifully done. I'm so impressed! I hope you do more watercolor this year...

  3. That is so true about the pastels on your fingers! I end up being so irritated by it and feeling rather messy. Explore on!

  10. Hey! Thank you for the wonderful compliment! I really appreciate it. I've been working with watercolour for 12 years and a few years ago I started working with oil... but I'm very happy to be back with watercolour. It's soooo awesome! Way more 'scary'!
