A Pair of Elephants

I haven't been posting or painting as much as I wanted to, I have an excuse though. About a month after we lost Pisho, a kitten turned up in our garden. She was starving and cold, it did not take long for her to settle into our home, but our older cat was not very happy!! She retreated to our bedroom and refused to come out, and then she became very ill after catching a virus from the kitten. It took two weeks of feeding her by syringe, day and night care to bring her back to good health. I was so afraid of losing another cat so soon after Pisho. Only in the last few days Tibby ( we all decided that  the name Toni did not suit her) has started eating downstairs and reclaiming her home as her own. The kitten is an absolute bundle of energy and is doing what kittens do. I did try to rehome her, but that didn't happen and I just could not leave her at an animal shelter, we had all bonded with her. Now, fingers crossed the worst is over and hopefully Tibby has a new friend. We haven't decided on a name, any suggestions?

I painted this today, something different

  1. You created such a nice sense of atmosphere and distance in your painting, Azra. And I love the elephants. What fun!

I'm so glad to hear that Tibby is on the mend. It is so worrisome to care for an ailing pet, but so worth the time and effort. They hold our hearts, don't they? I will be sending good thoughts for an easy transition with the beautiful new kitten. And for name...is it a he or she? I like Sophie for a girl. :)

  2. Nice sense of depth, ancient-ness (not a word but I can't think of anything else), and of their bulk and strength, Azra. Names are HARD!! Katy, after the book Katy Kitten? May, as we're almost there? Veronica?! Depends on her character too, doesn't it.

  3. Oh I'm so glad you found joy with another kitten , she looks really sweet, and very much like my son's cat. We called her Camelia :-) Great work on the elephants, you really can paint anything !

  4. The elephants are awe-inspiring, as they should be! Adorable kitten...she looks like royalty! Glad Tibby is feeling better, too.

  5. Hi Azra, great painting. They actually match the kitten's photograph in their serenity. Ah, but we know that, although she has a lovely nature, she's far from serene - LOL! Pet names are so difficult as they have to suit the animal but also be acceptable when you're are calling them from your back door! I've come across a few embarrassing ones so will leave it to you!! xx
