Painting is isolation by choice.Last weeks challenge on DPW was to paint a feeling and I had this composition in mind to paint only I left it till today to finish it! I don't usually put negative feelings into my work, well not deliberately any way. This  one had to come out in some way. Most of the time I am quite happy with painting on my own and yet there are times I crave company of my closest friends ,but  because I've kept everyone at a distance they are not always available for a heart to heart.Thats when the feelings of isolation take hold.

If it were not for my artist friends in blogland it would be so much harder to continue.

  1. Hi Azra:) This is so beautiful! I also love the little story you told with it:)I love the jar, the lonely flower and the title! I have to admit I love this feeling when I'm painting :) Beautiful painting!!

  2. Very pretty Azra and yes, sad also. I agree with you, painting can be very isolating. Leslie Saeta from Artists Helping Artists on blog talk radio was just talking about that a couple shows ago and I was listening to it while painting today. I thought how nice it was to listen to the show while painting, I didn't feel so lonely! Thank goodness for the internet!

  4. Your lovely painting expresses the feeling of isolation perfectly. I usually enjoy time by myself in my studio but it is nice to balance it with a little social interaction too.:) Karen's comment has reminded me that I have not listened to Artists Helping Artists for a while so I look forward to some catching up.

I know how much it means to get some feedback once in a while so I always try to spend some time each day posting comments, especially back to those thoughtful artists who have taken time to comment on my blog. It's wonderful that there is a supportive internet community. It's vital to survival to have a connection with my artist "friends" who share similar interests and challenges. Even if it's just a brief little comment, it means so much!

  5. Very well conveyed through this little painting Azra, Isolation , I feel is important in some phases of our lives, it means more of introspection and that means the growth for our souls. I love my isolation, but a little bird keeps me company on my window all day , probably he knows I am alone and I feel so connected!
