These thistles and chrysanthemums have been sitting in this vase for about two weeks. They looked so lovely when they were fresh and normally I would have thrown them away long ago. Now, I watch the flowers change colour and form as they get to the end of their life and find myself appreciating each stage more and more.
I left parts of the painting unfinished, almost a sketch, I'm trying to get away from crossing all the t's and dotting the i's, so to speak. : )
I've been listening to Soul II Soul Back to life, I hope you enjoy it.

very sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove your gorgeous blue grays and the warm apricots. Such a beautiful combination, Azra. And a very lovely painting!
ReplyDeleteLove the color scheme. Nice transparency.
ReplyDeleteThe limited palette is perfect for the wild flowers.
ReplyDeleteI was compelled to enlarge this and every little part could stand on its own. The brush strokes speak volumes. The colors are like a tone poem. Brava!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely post, Azra, in every way. I've been here watching a bright yellow gerbera plant slowly 'close its eyes' but it's still beautiful. You have honoured these 'mums' and retained their beauty in their old age.
ReplyDeleteThe simple palette and composition make this a lovely, quiet painting. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean, and the result is stunning, such pretty pastels , gorgeous work !
ReplyDeleteNice subject Azra ! Deciding what to leave out of a painting is harder than putting everything in. Well done !!!
ReplyDeleteAzra this painting is stunning.
