Lavender Garden

I painted this from a photo just before I had the lesson with Adebanji Alade.I know that if I painted this again I would be taking a different appproach. So what I'm going to do is paint this scene again tomorrow and see  how much I have learnt.
I would just like to say that I appreciate so much all your encouragement and support, especially after my last post.I can feel the love and care you have all put into your comments to me and its what keeps me going. : )

  1. Azra, your paintings have been getting stronger and stronger. You have a fabulous ability to combine the realistic and the decorative and a unique uplifting perspective that really comes through. Remember in dealing with others (the "public") that you may never know what's really happening in others' lives that leads them to make decisions. Keep up the great painting!

  2. Great perspective. The lavender leads your eye to the back and across to the path on the left. Nice.

  6. Hi Azra, I am just now catching up and read your last three posts. Wow! Kind of a roller coaster, for sure. First, I think the roses are exceptionally lovely, and I hope the person who commissioned them follows through - his loss, if he doesn't. As for the lavender field - it is nice. But I also know what you mean when you say you might paint something differently when looking at it at a later date - I do that often with older works. I think that's a good thing - it means we have grown in our abilities and learned a few things along the way. Hope that continues for both of us. Lastly, don't let other people or circumstances ever take away, or discourage the wonderful gift you have. Keep on painting, girl!

  8. I think this painting is lovely. You have really presented a great depth of field. I feel for your disappointment, but give him time. He might just be incredibly busy. I know I have to fight the tendency to think the worst. As a simple example; a buyer asked me to ship her painting to her work. My first thought was she was hiding her purchase from her significant other. Then I thought; Hey maybe it is going to be a gift and she doesn't want the surprise spoiled. Anyway, my mantra this week is Never, Never, Never give up! Can't wait to see your "new take".

  12. Azra this is so beautiful. you really nailed the values in this one. When i first saw it i thought it was a snapshot!. On another note thank you so much for your feedback on this morning's post but since I'm not too technically savy by accident I deleted your comment!!! I feel like such a dingbat! I'm working on my new Eepad tablet and eveything is with the fingers on the screen. It's very sensitive. I swept over to publish and instead it deleted!!!!
