Red Rose Commission

I have my first commission to paint a triptych  of red roses.A scary prospect but at the same time exciting as well.Certainly out of my comfort zone for sure.This is where I need some help.....please tell what you think and also which background looks better.I am supposed to show him an example of what he is looking  for and if he likes it I will go ahead and paint three very large pieces!!!! HELP!!
This guy wants these as a present for his wife,I did'nt know there were any romantic men left on this earth,it seems there might be one or two. : )

    Hi Azra, congratulations on your commission! That's most exciting!!
    Your rose is stunning, I'm sure they'll love it!
    The backgrounds are both beautiful. I personally tend towards the top one, just because I feel like the circles on the second compete a little bit for attention with the roses, but it might be due to the reflection that makes them brighter. They are both great backgrounds.
    Could you show him both options and have him choose?

    I have to agree and say the blue background compliments the depth of the roses. Both absolutely brilliant! Beautiful, I'm sure he'll love them both. Congratulations, here's to many more commissioned pieces coming your way.

    Romantic men? thought they only existed in Shakespeare's imagination?!

    Great news Azra, a commission is always a bit scary, but such a boost for self confidence. I love this rose and I absolutely prefer the first background, so much more simple, as the star here is the rose .

    Hello Azra:) first: in all cases stay calm :) You can do it and you already did it. Beautiful roses!! I prefer the first one because of the beautiful dark red and the nice background, but this romantic man has to choose. I wish you good luck with the big ones:)

    These are both so pretty, Azra. If I had to pick a favorite, though, I think it would be the first one, too. The background really highlights the red of the rose. Well done!

    Hi Azra! Congrats on your commission.Checked out your blog after a very long time.Things kept me away from blogging.But from what I see you definitely have been doing some great work out here.
    If you ask me about the background choices then I will go with Robie on this as the top background really helps the rose stand out.So heres wishing you luck and many more commissions.:)

    You are all unanimous in choosing the first painting..wow!! I can see why now and I agree.i am still waiting to hear from him,the last time i got in touch he did take a few days to reply so I live in hope!! If not ,these things happen for a reason and I will take this in my stride,rejection does get easier.

    Hey Azra,
    Congratulations. What a wonderful project to be part of. They'll be great! I like the jewel shapes on the bottom one. It gives it an extra element and adds somewhere for the eye to go. Both are beautiful so... do whatever YOU want!

    Congratulations Azra! How very exciting. I'm so happy for you. Don't fret though either one you choose would be stunning. I'm partial to the top one with the beautifuk turquoise blue background. I just think the color is more potent and helps make the roses "Pop" more. Good luck.
