Alot of my childhood was spent with my head buried in fairytale books and this story was one of my favourites.I could not get enough of books by Enid Blyton and Brothers Grimm .Saturdays you would always find me at the library and they were the happiest days of my life.
this is gorgeous-really well done. And I love the title-that is one of my favorite fairy tales.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris,I've been remembering lately all the fairytales I used to love and how much joy they gave me,its nice to know you love them too!
DeleteI'm obsessed with anything fairy tale related. And these roses are beautiful. Love the white and red together. So simple and elegant. Happy painting. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sophie,I love your blog and will definitely try to read your book!

ReplyDeleteAnother Beautiful piece! Your roses have always been my favourite. Red and White together always reminds me of Alice in Wonderland? Maybe it's the playing cards?
Keep up the brilliant work, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so just think of those that dont appreciate your work as blind (or short sighted, sounds less cruel!)

DeleteAzra,
ReplyDeleteGreat title and painting! I still remember going to see Snow White at the drive in movie theater when it first came out! I too was enamored with visiting the library and getting lost in fairy tales when I was a child. One of my favorite classes to go to in grammar school was library class. The director of the would always read us the most fabulous books. I loved listening to the crackle of the crisp new plastic coverings on her newest additions that she saved to read to us!
Thanks Giselle! How wonderful to have such memories and for sharing!
DeleteI always think that rose petals feel like velvet, and you captured that so beautifully, Azra! And as always, I love the way you portray glass. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWonderful , love this gorgeous painting Azra, great job on roses and glass.
ReplyDeleteThe softness of velvet rose petals and hardness of glass - contrasts beautifully rendered!
ReplyDeleteThe center red rose is so rich and velvety. Great job!
