Henny and Penny

My thoughts and prayers go out to all that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.I will be donating a painting on DPW as soon as I am able.
You may have noticed a break in painting, there has been illness in the family.Thank God he is recovering well, but  it has left me completely drained and frightened of what the future will hold.It does look like we will have to give up our work as it is the main cause of stress.Being self-employed is very tough, there is no sick or holiday pay. With the recession we were just getting by anyway.
All things considered though so long as there is life and health there is always hope.

As I painted this today I felt some sort of normality return,it felt good.

  1. Chickens are such interesting subjects to paint. Yours seem to be gossiping... Nice work, Azra.

  2. Azra, I'm wishing you and your family a speedy recovery. I hope you find alternative work soon that will ease your struggles. Painting will be a good distraction and a great way to calm down in the midst of so much turmoil.

  3. I agree with Jean. Your chickens appear to be discussing the affairs of the day. Very nice! And so sweet of you to donate your time and artwork to the Hurricane Sandy challenge. :)

On a more personal note, I'm very sorry to hear about your family's health issues. We are self-employed, too. So, I understand your concerns. I will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way, sweet friend.

  5. Azra, you have been an important part of my art and blog life over the past year! I'm so sorry to hear you have been going through challenges. Last fall was really tough for me, with a lot of ER visits and finally getting diagnosed with Addison's and I know how scary it is when health becomes a concern. I hope the art remains a source of relief for you as it was for me and that brighter times are coming. We all appreciate you and your wonderful paintings so much.

  7. Dear Dear Azra:) What I find this unfortunate to hear. I can very well imagine that this is a huge stress period in your life. As you said; If you have a business there is no sick days. Everything goes through. Especially in this time you have to deal with everything what you can. I hope you guys are on top again soon! Nevertheless, I think it is quite clever that you still have had the sense to make this beautiful painting.A lot of strength for you and your family Azra! I think of you:)
